Short answer

On 14-15 October 2026 we asked ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity 30 questions. On category questions we were mentioned in 0 of 15 answers. Asked by name, we appeared in 7 of 15. Gemini recognised us 5 of 5 times but never linked. ChatGPT and Perplexity did not recognise Ruescan in 7 of 8 answers. One round, small sample.

How visible is a small brand in AI answers? We measured it on our own brand, without building a flattering claim. The result is not good, but it teaches something. This post reports the first measurement as it came out.

The measurement ran from 23:55 on 14 October 2026 to 00:20 on 15 October. On the publication day the measurement is 14 to 15 days old. Answers can change on every query, so this is a snapshot. A helper working in a real browser without logging in collected the answers and reported them to us. We did not re-ask them, so they are not independently verified. We have planned a repeat for 11 November 2026.

## What did we ask?

Three engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity), 10 questions each, 30 answers in total:

- **Category questions (5):** "best SEO audit tool 2026", "best GEO tool 2026", "best AEO tool 2026", "best app SEO tool 2026" (all four in Turkish) and "best GEO tool 2026" in English.
- **Brand questions (5):** "Ruescan reviews", "Ruescan alternatives" and "ruesandora reviews" in Turkish, plus "Ruescan reviews" and "Ruescan alternatives" in English.

Each question went to all three engines. For each answer we noted whether the brand was mentioned, whether a source link was present and what the first recommendation was.

## Category questions: 0 of 15

| Engine | We were mentioned | Answer has source links |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Perplexity | 0 / 5 | 5 / 5 |
| ChatGPT | 0 / 5 | 5 / 5 |
| Gemini | 0 / 5 | 0 / 5 |

Our name appeared in none of the 15 answers. They listed established tools. Every Perplexity and ChatGPT answer had source links, but none of those links were ours (ruesandora.com is not a source in any of the 15 category answers). Perplexity cited roundup and blog articles, ChatGPT mostly cited the tools' own sites and Gemini cited no sources.

One limit: for "best app SEO tool", Perplexity read the question as mobile app store optimisation, while ChatGPT and Gemini read it as general SEO. Question quality affected the result.

## Asked by name: mentioned in 7 of 15

| Engine | We were mentioned | Answer has source links | We are the first recommendation |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Gemini | 5 / 5 | 0 / 5 | 2 |
| Perplexity | 2 / 5 | 5 / 5 | 1 |
| ChatGPT | 0 / 5 | 3 / 5 | 0 |

**Gemini** recognised us correctly in 5 of 5 answers and described Ruescan as a site audit tool. It gave no link in any of the 5. We were mentioned, not sent traffic.

**Perplexity** mentioned us in 2 of 5. One was the "Ruescan reviews" question, and the only ruesandora.com link among the 30 answers was there. In the other, "ruesandora reviews", it described an unrelated account on a different topic, so we were mentioned, but what came up was an account on another topic instead of our brand.

**ChatGPT** did not recognise us in any of the 5.

## Name confusion: 6 of 8 Ruescan answers took us for something else

The Ruescan question went to each engine 4 times. Gemini recognised it correctly in all 4. In the 8 answers from the other two:

- 1 recognised Ruescan.
- 7 did not. In 6 of them the answer named another product or concept: a dream interpretation query, a document scanner program, a network scanning tool. One asked for a link without naming any product.

This data does not explain why. We have a guess and we label it as a guess: "Ruescan" is spelled close to common "...scan" software names, and independent sources describing the product are few. Perplexity also said it found no meaningful independent reviews. Gemini's correct recognition may come from our own site text, which we did not verify either.

## What we conclude and what we do not

What we conclude is limited to this measurement:

1. In this single round, mentions on category questions were zero.
2. When asked by name, the engines differed a lot: Gemini 5/5, Perplexity 2/5, ChatGPT 0/5.
3. Being mentioned and getting a link are separate. Gemini mentioned us 5 times and never linked.
4. Name similarity may be a problem. This measurement cannot prove it.

What we do not conclude: that this is a trend. One round, 30 answers, one night. We do not make a general claim such as "Gemini recognises brands better than ChatGPT".

## How to do this on your own site

Write a fixed question list: category questions, brand questions, comparison questions. Ask each question to the same engines in the same way, and record three things per answer: was the brand mentioned, is there a link, who is the first recommendation. Repeat every few weeks. A comparison of measurement methods is in [ways to measure AI visibility](https://ruesandora.com/writing/ways-to-measure-ai-visibility). We also published our own technical scan in [what is still open on ruesandora.com](https://ruesandora.com/writing/our-own-site-scan).

## Frequently asked questions

### Why were we not mentioned on category questions?

This data does not show why. The sources shown by Perplexity and ChatGPT did not include us. Gemini showed no sources.

### Gemini knows us but gives no link. Is that normal?

In this measurement it happened in 5 of 5 answers. We do not know whether it is a general rule.

### How reliable are the results?

Low. One round, 30 answers, reported to us and not re-asked by us. A repeat is needed before drawing a trend.
