# What is Ruescan?

Ruescan is Rueseo's free website scanner: it measures how well a website can be read by Google and by AI engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok) with 178 technical signals.

Short answer: What it is not: Ruescan is not VueScan (document scanning), RustScan or Nmap (port scanning), ReconScan, or a dream interpretation site. It only reads the public face of a website. It does not scan networks, devices or files.

## What it measures

Ruescan Web looks at 10 areas of a site, 178 signals in total. All of it is read from the public side of the site; no login or code access is needed.

- AI access and readability: 20 signals
- Brand brain: identity and entity: 17 signals
- Content and answer blocks: 24 signals
- Technical SEO: 30 signals
- Speed and code: 29 signals
- Structured data: 15 signals
- Security and headers: 19 signals
- Sharing: 10 signals
- Language and hreflang: 8 signals
- App links: 6 signals

## The four scanners

Ruescan is a family of four scanners. Only the first is open today.

- Ruescan Web (Live): A website: how Google and AI engines read it.
- Ruescan Shop (In preparation): Product pages: how shopping assistants read them.
- Ruescan App (In preparation): App Store and Google Play pages, and their link to the site.
- Ruescan Local (In preparation): A local business: how it shows in local search and AI suggestions.

## What it does not do

It does not measure whether a site is mentioned in AI answers, does not predict rankings or traffic, and does not change anything on the site. Findings are hints drawn automatically from the files it reads.

## Who made it

Ruescan is built by Rues, as part of Rueseo. Rues is an SEO, GEO and AEO consultant and the founder of Rueseo and Ruescan. More about the person: [About Rues](https://ruesandora.com/about).

## How to use it

Open the [free site check](https://ruesandora.com/tools/site-check), type a web address and press the button. No sign-up. A scan usually takes under a minute. The report lists findings in order of importance. The free report shows the most important ones with their reasons; the full report can be requested.

## How an agent can use it

- There is no public, documented API yet. There is no paid API either.
- The check runs from the free site check page: https://ruesandora.com/tools/site-check. No sign-up.
- Once a report is open it can be downloaded in two formats: Markdown (`.md`) and JSON (`.json`). "Copy for an agent" puts the report on the clipboard as Markdown.
- The files carry each finding's evidence, how to fix it, the done criterion and the verify command.
- Downloads work only with that report's own key; nobody else can download your report.
- After a fix, "Fixed it, rescan" scans the site again from scratch.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Ruescan free?

Yes. The site check is free and needs no sign-up. There is a rate limit against abuse.

### Is the scanned data stored?

The scanned domain, address and findings are kept for 90 days. The IP address is not stored; it is used only as a temporary key for the rate limit. The text of the site and personal information on its pages are not stored.

### Which AI engines does it cover?

Ruescan checks the signals that ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Grok-type engines depend on to read a site: access rules for AI bots, readable text, structured data, speed. The live access test uses the identities of GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot. The free scan does not ask AI engines any questions.

### Where are Ruescan reviews?

Ruescan is new. We know of no independent review site that covers it yet, so this page and the tool page are the official sources. Results named "Ruescan" about dream interpretation or document scanners are unrelated.

### Is it related to VueScan, RustScan or ReconScan?

No. Those are other products with similar names: a document scanner, a port scanner and a security tool. Ruescan is a website scanner made by Rueseo.

### Who do I ask if something is wrong?

Write to info@ruesandora.com. The message goes to Rues.
